Anniversary of the Founding of St. Georges' Celebrated
The seventeenth anniversary of the founding of our anglican church was celebrated in May. Lieutenant Commander Anthony Egeln and Dr. Harry Hammond were founding members of the church. Our late Bishop, Dr. Hammond, was featured in Tom Brokaw's book, "The Greatest Generation," and service St. Georges after ordination for five years before his passing.
Today St. Georges continues due to the commitment of dedicated Christians. We have added the following new members to the church in the past month: Dick and Rebecca Plascencia, who are related to long-time members Jack and Cynthia Phillips, and Doris Hill, the friend of Dee Luftenberg. Another new member is Don Smith. Members have stated they joined the church for the genuine fellowship offered and our use of a liturgical service that varies little from the one which was introduced from England before the American Revolution.
Bishop Pressey gives early history of St. George's, as members enjoy the luncheon.
Lisa pictured above leads Bible Study at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. It lasts for one hour and covers a diversity of subjects. We are finishing with the Book of Judith right now and soon will select another topic from the OT or the NT. Stop in for spiritual refreshment.
