MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of St. George's Anglican Church is to teach and preach the word of God through the Holy Scriptures and to administer the sacraments. Consistent with the mission of the larger Anglican Church, it is also to provide a spiritual home for all Christians seeking to worship in unity of spirit and purpose, building a spiritual home, both for our comfort and the glory of God through Christ our Redeemer and only Intercessor. The Church is described as Apostolic, Sacramental, Liturgical, Scriptural, and Evangelical. Its goal is to provide a means for the faithful to worship in a manner consistent with biblical doctrine and centuries-old Anglican tradition. Anglican worship is a Prayer Book religion, the foundation of which rests on Scripture, Reason, and Tradition. Incorporated into the 1928 Prayer Book, formerly used by the Protestant Episcopal Church, are Thirty-nine Articles of Religion which further define our faith and worship.
We need the intellect, and more importantly, the prayers, of the faithful to mold this Parish into a House of God. In common and communal worship, we will build the Church.
- All people are welcome to attend, worship and study with us.
- Baptism in the name of the Trinity in any Christian church is valid at St. George's Anglican Church
- We consider all Scriptural Christians members of the universal Church of Jesus Christ.
- Jesus Christ is the only means of Grace and hope of salvation.
- The issue between God and other non-Christian, ethical and moral religions is up to God, not us.
- We sponsor a Sunday school, Bible classes, fellowship hour, confirmation classes, an outreach prayer group, and special social events centered on the church.
- We are part of the wider church. We are not a church exclusive.
St. George's Anglican Church teaches:
- One God, two Testaments, three Creeds, four Councils, five centuries.
- Christ is the only Redeemer, Savior, the Living Word.
- Grace and forgiveness of sin is from the Cross
- All doctrine is from Scriptures.
- Christ ordained the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.
- The Ten Commandments and Christ's Law govern all Godly and human relationships.
- We believe in the Virgin Birth, the Ascension, the Resurrection, one baptism for the forgiveness of sin, and life everlasting.
- If you are interest in St. George's Anglican Church, please join us on Sunday morning at 10:30. You may call a clergyman at (805) 646-1967.
As a church of God in the Body of Jesus Christ, we worship togethr and minister to the human community in the world according to the gospel of our Lord. The expression and path of the administration of that commission is done by the children of God under the rational guidance of the Holy Spirit and by the Godly zeal of their faith in Jesus Christ. In the complex world of human life, individuals working together in groups must adopt a focus of effort in order to accomplish a particular goal. They must set an objective to reach the achievement of that goal if they are to effect real change and not squander their God given resources.
In our nation, there are many churches and religious groups who work in the name of the Christian faith, but it is those organizations who know with certainty what it is that they are to do who are generally happier and more efficient in their efforts and the AEC is no different. There are many, many churches and jurisdictions in the US and they all seek to bring salvation to mankind and many of them, when they are doing this important work, also think it would be nice to have a great number of churches under their direction, to have a fine and nationally recognized theological school, to be fortified with an impressive financial endowment, showcase a house of bishops, and to be widely acclaimed as the reputed leader among American Protestant Churches.
These are all fine goals if this was the business we were in, but this is rrather, the business of persons who seek to build that which they imagin in their minds. And, although there is nothing wrong with these goals, it is not what our Lord directed his church to do. He said, we are "to teach all nations, batizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you," Mt 28:19. This is the work of the AEC: we baptize and we teach! And, in pursuit of this, our work as a church is to establish, maintain and expand a traditional, orthodox Anglican parich church presence in communities where God has seen fit to give us an opportunity to serve.
